Small Town, BIG History
Slip back into time, where time has mostly stood still for the little town of Milton, NC, bordering the central NC-VA border on Highway 57. Incorporated in 1776 as a nineteenth century hub of finance, commerce and community, here you can visit a National Historical Landmark tavern, as well as see the still-barred windows of the old Milton State Bank. Free-black cabinet maker Thomas Day made a name for himself here as a sought after artisan for a governor, a university and the area’s wealthy. Chances are you’ve driven through, but never knew.
History you won't see unless you stop.
